General Conference

Once again it was General Conference weekend. And might I just say, I LOVE General Conference! It is always so relaxing, but that isn't my favorite part! I love the messages sent to us my our loving Prophet and his Apostles. I always feel like they are often speaking right to me! It is amazing to me how the Lord can work through these men and women to give us the strength we need. Here are some of my favorite thoughts from conference:

"Desires dictate our priorities, priorities shape our choices, and choices determine our actions."

"The question is not, What can I get?... It's what can I give?

"The sun never sets on righteous missionaries testifying of the Savior."
This thought was quite interesting to me! It made me realize that there are missionaries all over the world, so likewise there is always a missionary sharing the joys of the gospel with someone. It is a such a great thing, because the gospel brings us such great happiness!

"No pain that we suffer, no trial that we experience is wasted. It ministers to our education, to the development of such qualities as patience, faith, fortitude, and humility... It is through sorrow and suffering, toil and tribulation, that we gain the education that we come here to acquire."

"All people are happier and feel more self-respect when they can provide for themselves and their family and then reach out to take care of others."

"When I am generous to Heavenly Father's children in need, He is generous to me."

"I testify to you that our promised blessings are beyond measure. Though the storm clouds may gather, though the rains may pour down upon us, our knowledge of the gospel and our love of our Heavenly Father and of our Savior will comfort and sustain us and bring joy to our hearts as we walk uprightly and keep the commandments."

"It's not what we have done, it's what we have become."

"The Lord tries and chastens us to test our patience and faith."

"If we sincerely desire and strive to meet our Heavenly Father's Expectations we will take his guidance in any way possible, even if it is chastening."

"To do's can be checked off, to be's can never be done."

Those are some of the great things that stood out to me this conference, but I can't fail to mention a topic that was brought up over and over this conference.
MARRIAGE
Marriage was mentioned over and over, and also pounded in hard during the priesthood session. That has definitely been the talk in this college town as well. To be honest, I felt kind of uneasy after all this talk. Im not sure why. But, then I discovered they weren't exactly speaking to me...They wanted me to get these points that were also mentioned:

"Be an exceptional individual. Someone that people want to be around, and show it."

"Pure love is a power for good. Righteous love is a foundation for celestial families."

"Marriage allows us to be unselfish."

"Have faith in the Lord's promises, and live worthy for them. In the Lord's time they will be fulfilled.

I am so thankful for conference, and I am ready to implement these teachings into my life to better improve myself.
